Anusara (a-nu-sar-a), means “flowing with Grace,” “flowing with Nature,” “following your heart.”

Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara yoga is a school of hatha yoga, which unifies a life-affirming Shiva-Shakti Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. Anusara Yoga has become one of the most highly respected schools of hatha yoga with over 1,000 licensed yoga teachers, thousands of teachers in training, and hundreds of thousands of students worldwide.
Anusara yoga epitomized by a “celebration of the heart” that looks for the good in all people and all things. This celebratory vision sets the basis for a yoga school in which the harmony and joy of a tightly knit community of highly trained teachers and fun-loving students is exalted. This community feels like it has the tightness of a family, yet the looseness of a merry band of bohemian artists.

Bridget is a Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher, Anusara representative for the UK and has studied Yoga with John Friend since 1994. Bridget commenced her yoga practices in India in 1975 and embarked on an intense program of study to become a senior teacher. Bridget has concentrated on teaching yoga since 1988. Bridget teaches regular Anusara classes, workshops and teacher trainings in the UK and abroard.
Together with Jayendra Hanley, Bridget has taught me how to teach Anusara Yoga and truly step into myself fully. I feel a beautifully deep, spiritual connection with Bridget and her teachings and hope that some of this powerful spirituality is evident in my own yoga teachings. To Bridget- full love, always.

Sianna Sherman is an internationally recognized Anusara® yoga teacher who delights in sharing her teachings with poetry, stories and expressive insight. In 1995, Sianna had the exquisite blessing of meeting her teacher John Friend who would later found the system of yoga called Anusara® yoga on August 15, 1997. She apprenticed John from 1999 to 2003 and continues to be near him as often as possible.
Sianna has also taught me how to teach Anusara Yoga and reminded me to follow the true path of my heart-no matter what! She helped me ‘toss all of my teaching fears to the Winds of Grace and be carried in the currents of my deepest desire to teach in a way that moves the heart, stirs the soul and enlivens the spirit with full love.’ For that, I will be eternally grateful.
