Natarajasana (Lord or King of the dance pose) is such a beautiful fusion of strength and flexibility, dedication and acceptance, light and dark, contraction and bliss. For me, It is the perfect dance of putting 100% effort into something and then, letting go…of the outcome. Beneath our hard work there is a key yogic remembrance: life is a dance, we must remember to find joy and bliss through the dance even as some things dissolve and others emerge. Acceptance of impermanence is one way towards unleashing our bliss.
Shiva’s dance the tandava is the fierce, scary, ferocious dance, signifying the destruction of self-limiting awareness; and lasya is the gentle, lyrical dance in which Shiva reveals the beautiful, loving, and tender aspects of existence. Success, is playfully mastering of the two.
